We’re in the business of making great cars and trucks. But we also work every day to apply and share our know-how in ways that benefit people, the community, and our planet in order to build a better tomorrow.

The initials “NRS” stand for Northwest River Supplies. When Bill Parks started the company in Eugene, Oregon in 1972, his primary customers were from around the Pacific North West, and they were mostly fellow river enthusiasts. At the time, the name explained perfectly what our company was about. Over the years, as our employees and customers started branching out into other areas of paddlesports, our company did too. These days, “Northwest River Supplies” doesn’t tell the full story of who we are. Our enthusiasm for paddlesports has grown to include lakes and oceans, and our products are used by paddlers in every part of the world. We shortened our name simply to NRS, to show that we focus on more than just river supplies, and more than just this corner of the world.

GoPro began as an idea to help athletes document themselves engaged in their sport and has become a widely adopted solution for people to document themselves engaged in their life passions, whatever they may be. From extreme to mainstream, professional to consumer, GoPro has enabled the world to capture and share its passions, and the world, in turn, is enabling GoPro to become one of the most exciting and aspirational companies of our time.

Born out of the river/mountain culture and aimed at the intersection of adventure, art, music, and ideas worth considering.

Kelly’s Whitewater Park has been recognized by many kayaking athletes as one of the premier whitewater parks in the country. Kelly’s opened in June 2010 and has hosted 2 National Kayak Championships and is proud host of the 2015 Payette River Games on June 19-21, 2015. Kelly’s was built in loving memory of Kelly Brennan and was funded by Mark & Kristina Pickard, in honor of Kristina’s late sister. The Park’s land was generously donated by local philanthropist Hans Borbonus and was the vision of Cascade Mayor Richard Carter and several other community leaders.

IR is a kayaking gear company, owned and staffed by kayakers whose sole objective is to produce the best kayaking gear known to human kind. As roots as gear companies get, IR has come all the way from basement made board shorts to making the world’s most trusted sprayskirts and pushing the bar for durable dry wear design.

The Idaho® Potato Drop began as an idea in the Fall of 2012, as natural and homegrown as the potato itself. The goal was to bring people from around the world together for an annual New Year’s Eve celebration that shares Idaho’s unique charm with the rest of the world. In December of 2013, the first Idaho® Potato Drop realized that goal. Tens of thousands of curious onlookers, party- goers and families flocked to downtown Boise to partake in the inaugural event, with millions more watching coverage on local and national media. Each year, this FREE and charitable event has grown in scale, quality and reach. Privately funded by sponsors and highlighted by media coverage throughout the state and around the world.

I am a passionate co-founder of Vivid Roots, a brand focused on living life to the fullest while providing a helping hand to those in need. Each Vivid Roots product sold helps to provide people in need with clean water, all the while celebrating life’s great adventures.

Vivid Roots was founded after a backpacking trip in the mountains of Idaho the summer of 2013 by four college students who wanted to share their zest for life. Part of living a full and vivid life, is helping people less fortunate, so we created a model that gives people the opportunity to maximize positive social impact through each purchase. If we all do a little, we will change a lot.

First Descents offers young adult cancer fighters and survivors a free outdoor adventure experience designed to empower them to climb, paddle and surf beyond their diagnosis, defy their cancer, reclaim their lives and connect with others doing the same. During the First Descents experience, young adult survivors and fighters are empowered through conquering legitimate outdoor challenges to push their limits and face their fears, and by doing so, they are able to regain the confidence and self-efficacy lost to cancer. First Descents places an emphasis on each individual’s experience and provides the right support for every participant to achieve their goals for the week. The experience is designed to allow healing to happen naturally and organically – no forced conversations and no structured group sessions or therapy.

The Original Chum retainer was created in 1983 by Colorado River guide Mike Taggett and his friends, who sought a simple, comfortable way to keep their expensive sunglasses out of the river. Every cotton and rope retainer is home-grown in Hurricane, Utah — manufactured in the USA. Although it isn’t rocket science, we are very proud of the proprietary machines Chums Research has developed over the years to make Chums retainers the most durable and long-lasting retainers on the planet.

Cabarton Ranch beef is raised on the banks of the Payette River. All our animals spend their entire lives on pasture. Cabarton beef is grass-fed, grain-finished. That’s is how we eat it ourselves, and we know it tastes good. None of our animals are given any hormones or added antibiotics. It’s just Idaho beef, pure and simple.

IWA is a 501 (C)(3) established in 1982. IWA is volunteer and member driven whitewater group dedicated to promoting the appreciation, understanding and safe recreational use of the whitewater river resources within Idaho. IWA’s goal is to educate whitewater recreationists about river access, dangers, whitewater safety and any issue affecting the public use of Idaho’s whitewater river resources. IWA knows that by sharing this passion with current and future generation; we all become conservationists who protect Idaho’s natural resources. IWA builds partnerships around the river and serves as a platform for stakeholders to implement enhancement projects through collaboration and stewardship.

Asana has been manufacturing rock climbing gear in Boise, Idaho since 1999. They are climbers and paddlers and passionate about playing in the dirt and water. Asana owns a bouldering gym in Boise, is the leader in the manufacturing of custom landing systems for climbing gyms, bouldering pads, climbing holds, packs, chalk bags, chalk, and other equipment. As Kayakers, we need gear that makes us feel more comfortable, confident, and safe. Gear that allows us to push ourselves and the sport. As Designers, we need to make products that are unique, necessary, and beautiful. As Manufacturers, we need our factories to be safe, our materials to be non-toxic, and our waste to be minimal. If a product cannot meet all these requirements, we don’t make it.
